A Bicentennial ballad

Kirk O’Riordan, associate professor of music and director of bands, composed a new Bicentennial song. His “Two Hundred Moments” received its premiere by the Commencement Band as part of the prelude performed at the graduation ceremony May 23. A single-movement work for the band, three-and-a-half minutes in duration and containing exactly 200 measures, the piece is based on fragments of the alma mater and the College’s fight song, “On, Lafayette!”
