WRITING — three courses in addition to First-Year Seminar that are designated as writing courses, with at least one in the chosen major and one outside of the chosen major
COMPLETION OF A COURSE IN EACH AREA — humanities, natural sciences (with lab), and social sciences; and two courses in a division that that does not include the major: courses may be selected from engineering and natural sciences including those designated as Science and Technology in a Social Context
QUANTITATIVE REASONING—a course in which students learn to use mathematical methods to solve problems, represent and interpret quantitative information, and critically analyze mathematical results
GLOBAL AND MULTICULTURALISM—two courses that examine the structure of identity, diversity, and differences in domestic and global contexts
VALUES—a course in which students construct and evaluate answers to questions of moral and political concern
SECOND LANGUAGE—completion of a year of language study to accomplish at least elementary proficiency
