They are part of the College’s strategic initiative outlined in “The Plan for Lafayette” approved in 2007, to increase the size of the permanent faculty by 20 percent and decrease the student-faculty ratio from 11:1 to 10:1. Two of the incoming professors represent new positions. So far, Lafayette has allocated or filled 18 new faculty positions and has commitments for three more, which will bring the total to 21. The strategic plan calls for 35 new faculty positions.
