Pat Palmieri is the inaugural recipient of an award recognizing outstanding work by a member of the library’s support staff.
Made possible by an endowment established by Paul Schlueter and June Schlueter, the prize, which will be awarded annually, is named in honor of Dean of Libraries Neil J. McElroy and his wife, reference librarian Marilyn B. Kann.
Palmieri, of Skillman Library’s technical services department, received the award Oct. 9, prior to the sixth annual Paul and June Schlueter Lecture in the Art and History of the Book.
Paul and June Schlueter, Charles A. Dana Professor Emerita of English and former provost of the College, created an endowment to support the lecture series and acquisitions for Skillman’s Special Collections in 2007. The Rare Book Room in Skillman Library also is named in their honor.
