FORMER LAFAYETTE basketball player Sarah McGorry ’12 and her teammates from the University of Limerick won the National Superleague Cup in late January in Dublin, Ireland.
A Victory Scholar, McGorry began her MBA in marketing at Limerick this fall. The Victory Scholarship, sponsored by nonprofit organization Sport Changes Lives, is an opportunity to play and coach basketball while participating in a one-year, postgraduate program at an Irish or Northern Irish university.
McGorry also is gaining work experience through internship programs at successful businesses in the region.
Among the first group of women to earn the Victory Scholarship and the first to participate in the program in Limerick, McGorry and her teammates took down Team Montenotte Hotel Cork, which had handed them their only loss earlier in the season, for the cup victory.
McGorry, an economics graduate, ranks eighth all-time in games played at Lafayette with 115.
