The production, directed by Mary Jo Lodge, associate professor of English, led to a collaboration with Rachel Goshgarian, assistant professor of history, and Angelika von Wahl, associate professor of international affairs, supported by a START grant from the Mellon Foundation to bring guest speakers to campus for further discussion. Playwrights Najla Said and Heather Raffo will perform and discuss issues of women and the Middle East and visiting scholars from Temple and Columbia universities will led a discussion of the text. Based on classic tales from the Arabic collection One Thousand and One Nights, the play featured original music by Tom DiGiovanni ’96.
