For his tireless efforts in promoting a mutually beneficial relationship between Easton and Lafayette, Richard “Mac” McAteer recently was presented with the Daniel H. Weiss Award for Leadership and Vision by President Alison Byerly.
More than 11 years ago, McAteer joined the mayor and then President Arthur J. Rothkopf ’55 in a meeting with Pennsylvania’s Gov. Rendell to secure a $3 million grant to purchase old buildings along North Third Street to create the arts campus.
McAteer serves on the board of Greater Easton Development Partnership and was on the Board of Trustees Easton Committee. He has been the driving force for such projects as Easton’s Welcome Back Lafayette day and the Pierce Street path connecting to the Karl Stirner Arts Trail.
The award was established in 2013 by Michael LeWitt ’70 and Lynne LeWitt P’13.
