Ryan Adams was introduced as the second full-time head coach in the history of Lafayette’s volleyball program in February. He was an assistant at Bucknell from 2014-16 and this past season. Here are some facts about the new boss you might not know.
• He was born in Fresno, Calif., and grew up in San Marcos, Calif.
• A 2009 graduate of Cal State Northridge, he majored in urban studies and planning and was an Academic All-American.
• His philosophy of coaching: “Game-like training focusing on getting 1 percent better every day.”
• If he weren’t a volleyball coach, he’d like to be a city planner or high school counselor.
• His hobbies are traveling, skateboarding, and snowboarding.
• If he were stranded on a desert island with only one thing to eat, he’d want it to be pizza.
• His favorite movie is Disney’s Heavyweights.
• As an Americorps member, he took a 10-day backpacking trip working with the National Forest Service, clearing train tracks and running a crosscut saw near the Salmon River in Idaho.
