Seventeen of Lafayette’s 23 Division I sports received 2014 NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program Public Recognition Awards.
The NCAA honored 1,049 Division I teams for their high marks, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rates. These awards are given each year to teams scoring in the top 10 percent in each sport with their APRs, the NCAA’s measure of academic achievement.
The teams include: baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball.
A total of 275 out of 346 Division I institutions placed at least one team on the list. Dartmouth had the most teams recognized followed by Brown and Bucknell. The Leopards are second in the Patriot League.
In addition, the field hockey team won the 2013 Division I National Academic Team Award. The team was one of 66 schools honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
The award recognizes institutions that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during first semester of 2013-14.
