Mike Summers has landed his dream job: helping students make their professional dreams come true
As assistant vice president of the Office of Career Services, Summers is driven by the goal of helping students find their own path to personal and professional satisfaction. “I love helping students find opportunities that are a match for their skills and interests,” he says. “I’ve been lucky to find a job that I’m passionate about, and I want to help our students find that as well.”
Summers is actively working to bolster career services’ offerings, namely the nationally recognized career-exploration Gateway program, which provides individualized support to students over their four years on campus. At the same time, he is identifying areas of opportunity to strengthen the office’s identity as a core component of the college experience. He wants more students to use the valuable tools and resources his team offers, and he wants to start working with them at the outset of their college careers.
Prior to joining Lafayette, Summers worked as director of employer relations at Wake Forest University, his alma mater. His résumé includes more than 20 years of experience in sales, sales management, marketing, and executive search.
Summers recognizes the valuable role the College’s alumni network plays in supporting students’ professional ambitions. He’s eager to build upon those relationships. If you are interested in working with him, email him at summersm@lafayette.edu
