Additions and renovations enhance Lafayette’s vibrant campus

McCartney Street Housing

The two-building complex opened in fall 2020 with a mix of studios and suites available to upperclassmen. Both buildings feature two community kitchens, two study lounges, laundry room, and secured entrances, plus a terraced amphitheater and outdoor seating area. The complex is operated in partnership with Lafayette, which is leasing the land to Radnor Property Group and Harrison Street. LEARN MORE

College Store

The ground floor of the new McCartney Street housing complex is the new home of Lafayette’s College Store. The brightly lit 5,000-square-foot space features an expanded array of Lafayette attire, plus new items from Easton-area businesses. Recognizing the College’s commitment to sustainability, the store has a BYOB (bring your own bag) policy. LEARN MORE

Trolley Stop

Named for Easton’s electric trolley system that was spearheaded by Lafayette graduate and eventual Easton mayor, David Nevin, this full-service restaurant is also a new addition to McCartney Street. Homestyle diner classics are made with locally sourced ingredients, and the kitchen is outfitted with a biodigester, which reduces 100% of food waste from landfills, reduces methane emissions, and lowers the diner’s carbon footprint. The diner, which opened to the public May 29, is operated by Bon Appétit. LEARN MORE

Donahue-Garst Plaza

Thanks to the generosity of Patricia Donahue and her husband, Michael Garst, the walkway outside South College residence hall has been transformed into a private, peaceful retreat for students. Donahue, a retired professor of English, and her husband, Garst, retired senior vice president of chemical sciences at Allergan, attended a dedication event for the plaza June 4. “There’s considerable pleasure in creating opportunities for students that will enhance and energize their academic and personal lives,” Donahue says. Nestled in the plaza is a plaque inscribed with these words from Donahue: “I have loved Lafayette because I have loved my students.” LEARN MORE
