Protecting Patagonia
Michael Pressman ’91, global lead of The Nature Conservancy’s One Conservancy Protection Initiative, helped the collaborative acquisition of 328,000-plus acres of Cochamó Valley and its surroundings. The biodiverse and breathtaking area was the missing link in nearly 4 million acres of connected and protected lands in Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia. A coalition of local and international groups, including The Nature Conservancy, raised more than $78 million in December to purchase and permanently protect the land.
