Two Join Patriot League

BOSTON UNIVERSITY and Loyola (Md.) University accepted invitations to join the Patriot League for the 2013-14 academic year, according to President Daniel H. Weiss, chair of the Patriot League’s Council of Presidents.

Both institutions will join as full members, bringing the League total to 10. They join Lafayette, American University, Bucknell University, Colgate University, College of the Holy Cross, Lehigh University, United States Military Academy, and United States Naval Academy as full members. In addition, Fordham University and Georgetown University are associate members for the sport of football, while Massachusetts Institute of Technology competes as an associate member in women’s rowing.

Boston will join in the following 16 sports: men and women’s basketball, men and women’s cross country and track and field, field hockey, women’s golf, men and women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men and women’s soccer, softball, men and women’s swimming and diving, and men and women’s tennis.

Loyola will join in the following 17 sports: men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and women’s volleyball.
