An avid Leopards fan, John Kinard ’52 died Sept. 9. Former president of the Maroon Club, he also served a number of years as president of the Philadelphia Area Alumni Chapter. The popular Leopard Luncheons that he organized were recently named in his honor. For his dedicated service as class correspondent, reunion chair, and Alumni Admissions Representative, he was recognized with the George T. Woodring ’19 Service Award in 2001. He received the Danny Hatch ’04 Award in 1980 for his support of Lafayette athletics. Other honors include the William Greenip ’44 Award in 1991, Chapter Event Chairperson of the Year 2005, and Wilson Distinguished Service Alumni Admissions Representative and Hughes ’38 Class Correspondent Award in 2007. A retired Evangelical Lutheran pastor, Kinard had served as pastor at several churches in the Philadelphia area. A civil engineering graduate, he obtained a master’s of divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary, Mount Airy, Pa. Two of his children are Lafayette graduates—Jennifer Cornish ’91 and Gregory Kinard ’82.
