WITH FUNDING FROM the Teagle Foundation, the College will take steps to improve the robustness of diversity throughout the curriculum and train student leaders to serve as peer educators on multiculturalism and social justice.
The foundation awarded $300,000 to Lafayette, Bucknell University, and Dickinson College for a cooperative project to enhance diversity and diversity education. At Lafayette, faculty will create new courses, new components in existing courses, and new pedagogies for traditional courses to improve student learning regarding issues of identity and difference. The Office of Intercultural Development will develop a new campus-wide multicultural training program that builds on methods currently used to help prepare orientation leaders, peer-athlete mentors, international student advisers, resident advisers, and other student leaders to perform their duties and promote an inclusive campus environment.
