Undergraduate Research in Humanities

Undergraduate ResearchA nationwide trend in undergraduate research has been that projects tend to be focused on and largely defined by scientific research more so than research in other areas, says Robin Rinehart, professor of religious studies and chair of Asian studies, who was a member of the national working group on undergraduate research in religious studies, funded by the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion.

Teaching Undergraduate Research in Religious Studies (Oxford University Press, 2011), based on their work, is the first book on undergraduate research specifically focused on religious studies, says Rinehart. She is the author of “Thinking about Method,” and co-author with Lynn R. Huber of “Working with Texts.”
