Office of Sustainability’s outreach and engagement manager
Samantha(Sam)Smith is another new addition to the Office of Sustainability. She joined the office in February in a new role aimed at infusing environmental stewardship, economic prosperity, and social equity into sustainability programming and engagement activities across campus.
Smith previously worked for Ichor Strategies, where she elevated environmental, social, and governance issues, and developed solutions to improve community engagement strategies for public and private organizations. Prior to that role, she worked at Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where she analyzed climate impact and worked to improve sustainability throughout the agency via programs including waste reduction and electric vehicle adoption. She also spearheaded stakeholder engagement events and programming
for Earth Month and Climate Week.
“Lafayette is a beautiful, intimate campus, where I feel I can truly make a difference and impact people’s lives, whether that be students, faculty, staff, or community members,” Smith says. “Throughout the interview process, I was amazed by the passion for transformational leadership among employees and students. I look forward
to embracing that further as I integrate into the Lafayette community.”
The Lehigh grad (“Don’t hold it against me!”) is looking forward to rooting for both teams. She’s a vegetarian and is happy to share some ideas for working plant-based recipes into your cooking repertoire.
