Patriot League Showcases Academics

The Patriot League Academic Network is a new effort to showcase the academic accomplishments and civic engagement of students, faculty, and staff at eight of the nation’s most outstanding institutions.

The main theme of the first wave of content at the site’s launch in May was the schools’ involvement in recovery efforts in Haiti following the earthquake in January 2010. This fall, ethics in the curriculum will be a focus, corresponding with the topic of the league’s annual academic conference, scheduled for November.

The Patriot League was second only to the Ivy League in the number of teams recognized by the NCAA for academic excellence at full-member institutions this spring (see “Lafayette Tops Patriot League Academics” in this issue). In addition to Lafayette, the league’s full members include American University, Bucknell University, Colgate University, the College of the Holy Cross, Lehigh University, the U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
