Rothstein ’13 to Compete at European Lacrosse Championships

The Israeli women’s national lacrosse team has selected Jessica Rothstein ’13 as a member of the 18-player roster to compete at the 2015 European Lacrosse Federation European championships
Aug. 6-14 at Sportovni Centrum in Nymburk, Czech Republic.

Rothstein recently relocated to Israel in preparation for the championships. Israel’s squad is ranked eighth in the world as 2015 marks the nation’s debut in a women’s European championship event. Israel joins 16 other countries vying for a gold medal, including defending champion England.

A mechanical engineering graduate, Rothstein was a member of the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges Scholars team that worked in summer 2012 to improve access to clean water for a group of families in Jacmel, Haiti, a village damaged during the 2010 earthquake. Other members were Sarah Nusbaum ’13 and Madeleine O’Neill ’13. Grand Challenges at Lafayette is based on solving complex problems with contributions from both engineering and the liberal arts.

Rothstein started 62 games for Lafayette, including every game her final three seasons on College Hill. She was among the top four in scoring her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, with 27 goals and seven assists as a senior.

A portion of the national team’s general fundraising efforts has been committed to a charity chosen by each player. Rothstein will compete in honor of Sticks For Kids.
