During Hurricane Irene in 2011, College Hill lost one of its most distinguished citizens—a cavernous elm tree that sat at the edge of the Quad near Hogg Hall.
No one knows the exact age of the tree, but it dates far back into the 19th century, and perhaps is as old as the College itself. Lafayette is ensuring that through its wood, this tree continues to enrich the life of the College.
