Welcome to the fall issue of Lafayette magazine.

Every year has its defining moments, but 2020 has been inundated with tumultuous, momentous events. The confluence of civil unrest, divisive politics, and a pandemic has made 2020 a pivotal year. As the College commemorates the 50th anniversary of coeducation, which marked a new era of inclusion, it also recognizes the work that still needs to be done to create an environment where all students, faculty, and staff can thrive.

The content in this fall issue of Lafayette magazine covers the breadth of these topics. We revere the trailblazers who have created opportunities for future generations of women at the College; we celebrate the alumni, faculty, and students actively working to increase equity and inclusion in their workplaces, classrooms, and communities; we share how despite the COVID-related struggles of this year, the Lafayette community found ways to foster creativity, work collaboratively, and remain connected.

Though many are eager to turn the calendar and say goodbye and good riddance to 2020, we hope the stories told here will help you close out the year feeling informed, inspired, and encouraged about the future.
