Spring symbolizes growth, renewal, and brighter days ahead. After a long year clouded by a pandemic, this spring feels especially vibrant and energizing—and not just because frisbees and hammocks have returned to the Quad. As we look ahead, we draw inspiration from the creativity, ingenuity, and resilience our alumni, students, faculty, and staff demonstrated over the past year. These are qualities the Lafayette community has always embodied, but we’ve been reminded how steadfast they are.
This issue came together virtually and despite some of its own COVID-related challenges, we believe we have a collection of stories that will inform and inspire you. You’ll read about alumni and faculty who are using their skills and passions to improve the world around them and the students who are following their lead. You’ll also find a tribute to Alison Byerly, the College’s 17th president, who made a positive impact during her tenure at Lafayette.
