Recycling the Unrecyclable

In addition to pizza boxes, other items that are considered unrecyclable often get tossed into waste streams.

But Lafayette’s Office of Sustainability works with innovative companies that accept andrecycle such things as batteries, ink cartridges, chip bags, and pens.

Here’s a look at the progress.

Big Green Box, a nationwide program that offers
low-cost ways to recycle batteries and electronics

through Clean Earth Inc., a national specialty waste
disposal and recycling company

collects and repurposes complex waste nationwide
