Summer 2026
In this issue, faculty and staff contributed to a summer reading guide [“Book bound”] offering their latest recommendations from memoirs to science fiction. Charles A. Dana Professor Emerita of English June Schlueter, who shared what she’s reading as of late, has a portrait on p. 28 that’s worth a thousand words... or perhaps more, as she is surrounded by 15,000 books. Meanwhile, adventure was found across the Atlantic in the Marquis de Lafayette exhibition at the National Archives of France (pictured, left). Understanding other cultures is also a sentiment in the feature about globalization [“In pursuit of a global mindset,” p. 36]. Finally, read how students gain worldly Wall Street experience, thanks to Lafayette’s Investment Club [p. 42]. In the coming months, the College will be wrapping up its Bicentennial celebration on campus. There’s been record-breaking interest in alumni gatherings like Reunion [p. 22] and the Maroon Club Golf Outing [p. 12], but even more is planned this fall with regional events [p. 8]
and star-studded performances on College Hill. Find all of the information at: lafayette.edu/bicentennial.
